We believe in the value of outdoor exploration and encourage you to get outside as much as possible. That’s why we offer a full-service gear rental and have an on-campus community bike shop. Both will provide you the tools and gear you need to get outside.

We also have a ReUse Room where you can find everything from gear to household items, all second-hand and free.

Bike Shop

Since the mid-1990s, Northland’s Sunshine Community Bike Shop has served as a hub for bike enthusiasts. The shop has tools, parts, and plenty of advice to offer to anyone who wants to repair their bike or build a bike from scratch. If you are interested in learning the ABC’s of bike repair, you are welcome and encouraged to volunteer alongside our work-study students who manage the shop. Outpost Gear Rental

The Northland College Outpost rents personal outdoor recreational equipment to Northland students, staff, and faculty. From tents to trowels, canoes to Coleman stoves, and backpacks to bear ropes, we have outdoor gear options for every season and most outdoor pursuits. The Outpost is located in the basement of the Larson-Juhl Center for Science and the Environment (see campus map). See MyNorthland for current hours and contact information.
