U.S. News & World Report ranks Northland College among best colleges
September 12, 2012
U.S. News & World Report recognized Northland College within the top tier schools on their list of the "Best National Liberal Arts Colleges." The list comprises 251 liberal arts schools that represent the best colleges nationwide. It includes public and private liberal arts schools that offer undergraduate programs and award at least half of their degrees in the arts and sciences.
"U.S. News has recognized Northland College for the last several years running and national nods such as this validate the liberal arts education we provide to our students, as well as the additional value of an education that seeks to promote sustainability," said Rick J. Smith, Vice President of Institutional Marketing and Enrollment Management. "Our college admissions staff sees an enthusiasm and passion for Northland that is kindled in many prospective students that visit the college. It's exciting to guide young people through that process of deciding whether Northland is the best fit for them and often times being there when they realize, ‘This is it. This is where I want to be.'"
The latest analysis released today by U.S. News and World Report lists Northland with other top tier Wisconsin schools including Beloit College, Ripon College, St. Norbert College, Lawrence University, Carthage College and Wisconsin Lutheran College. Northland College performed well in several categories, including average freshmen retention rate (71%), small class size (74% of classes have fewer than 20 students) and percent of full-time faculty (90%).
