Making a World of Difference
Every gift to Northland College—no matter what form it takes—makes a difference to our students and faculty. When you make a gift to Northland, you have great flexibility in determining how you make the gift. Our goal is to make the gift-giving process convenient, flexible, and accessible to you, our donors.
Many of our supporters opt to make gifts by check or credit card; some gain tax benefits by gifting appreciated securities, while others incorporate gifts to Northland in estate plans.
To make a gift to Northland College, or for more information about any of the giving methods outlined here, please contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at (800) 318-2583, or make a gift online.
Cash
The simplest way to give a gift to Northland College or the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute is to write a check or use our secure on-line giving form.
Appreciated Property
An outright gift of securities (individual stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds) is one of the most attractive ways to give. Not only do you generally receive a deduction for the full fair market value if owned for more than one year, but also this enables you to bypass capital gains tax that would otherwise be due if the donated asset were sold.
Real Estate
An outright gift of unencumbered real estate may allow you to make a significant gift to Northland without incurring capital gains tax.
Life Insurance
If you hold a life insurance policy and no longer need the protection, consider transferring ownership of the policy to Northland College.
Ways to Give—Tomorrow
Join our Heritage Society – established to recognize those individuals who have made estate provisions for Northland College and/or its Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute.
Wills
Bequests to Northland College are a major source of endowment support. Each of these gifts contributes to our financial stability.
Revocable Trusts
A living revocable trust is flexible. You can name us as a beneficiary, while providing lifetime income to a family member.
