Profile
My passion in the world has been informed by my desire and commitment to help connect people to themselves, each other and the Earth. Nurturing, strengthening and exploring these relationships have been at the forefront of my work. Through this process, I’ve witnessed hundreds of people open their hearts and minds to a wider understanding of their place in the world with a renewed commitment to one another and the Earth. As an alum of Northland College and the Audubon Expedition Institute, I had the distinct opportunity through varying experiences to deepen my relationship with the natural world, to reflect on my role in this web, and to discover the depth of connection between all beings. I’ve been fortunate to have spent nights sleeping under the stars in varying bioregions throughout North America and Iceland; to have canoed, kayaked and rafted through rivers and Lakes in the mid-west, southwest and northeast of the United States; to have discove! red that one of my favorite smells is balsam fir and a favorite memory is of Amanda, a ten year old girl, who spent an entire afternoon learning (and succeeding in) how to get into a canoe by herself so she could indulge in the freedom to take a canoe out on the Lake alone; to have discovered the strength of my own being in portaging canoes, carrying backpacks, hauling water; to have learned that the strength of a community is at the heart of being human and that one of the greatest gifts we can share with the world is to heal ourselves so we are more available for others and our livelihood. I love being outside. I love to teach. I feel fortunate for every opportunity I have to sit with a group of students and guide them and empower them as they nestle into their own lives.
