Academy Evenings are held around the state to bring the public together with our state's leading experts, researchers, scholars, and artists to share cutting-edge knowledge in a wide range of fields, highlight our achievements, and address our common problems. They are intended to encourage interaction with these leaders in an intimate atmosphere designed to build community.

William P. Van Evera Lectureship
The William P. Van Evera Endowed Lectureship Fund was created so that Northland College would host an eminent authority for a public lecture and lead a seminar to engage students, citizens, and appropriate faculty each fall. Designed to bring these groups together around a particular environmental issue, the Van Evera Lecture and Seminar was established “to bridge teaching and research with application and action.” The William P. Van Evera lectureship was developed as a lasting honor to the life of its namesake and his deeply felt love of nature, especially as he experienced it on the Brule River in northern Wisconsin. The seminar pays tribute to Bill Van Evera who combined his talents as a lawyer and businessman with his passion for nature to foster practical solutions to environmental issues.
